Our leigh on Sea centre is one of three centres JJ’s runs alongside Basildon and Benfleet. We set up our centres with your child in mind in order to help them reach their aspirations, improve upon their current knowledge and give them more confidence in themselves and their abilities. You will find all our tutors are highly trained and experienced in their own respected subjects and specific levels for that subject and you can be assured we work closely with most schools and make sure what they learn is what is in the national curriculum.
We focus on the core subjects at school – Maths, English and Science. Teaching starts at about the age of 5 and goes up to 18 years of age. We do all the important exams in various subjects like the 11 Plus, SATs, GCSEs, Maths A Levels and school entrance exams.

We are located along Road (A13), Leigh on Sea opposite the local CO-OP supermarket. For those driving to the centre there is plenty of on street parking. Public transport wise we have lots of different bus services run by various companies that pass by us.
For parents wanting to wait for the child we have a small waiting area. Or if you prefer, we are a stone’s throw from various shops, takeaways and cafes.

WRONG, we don’t just throw your child into the deep end into a group to see if they like it or not. Instead we give them a personalised assessment to see which areas need attention and which need the most.
Next, we discuss where they are now academically, where they need to be and where we think they can be potential wise. Each child has the potential not just to meet expectations but to quite often exceed it.
At this stage it is up to you the parent if you decide to sign up with us. We aren’t sales people (we loath them as much as you do – sorry if you are a sales person reading this). So, you won’t get hassled into signing up with us.
We like to think that the fact that we have a great track record in helping a very high percentage of our students improve and/or get better test scores (just check out our review and rate us page) and the fact that we offer all our students the same tutor for each lesson who is a specialist for their level of study and after each lesson you the parent can get feedback from their tutor on how they did.

Maths and English In Leigh-On-Sea
We at JJs Tuition Leigh-on-Sea recognise why it is so vital that we manage every child we teach as an individual as one size does not fit all when it comes to educating students. Too often more individualistic needs are neglected in main stream schools because teachers have limited time and resources for bright pupils or pupils who are struggling and can’t catch up due the pace lessons at school move at.
Which probably explains why private tutoring as an industry has shot up in popularity the last ten years or so. That is why all our Maths and English programs are specifically catered for the individual child in mind. The programs are flexible in that they work at your child’s speed and abilities.
To make sure they get the best from us all the lessons are personalised for each child, we even do the same with the homework their tutor will set from them. We want to give them what they can handle but at the same time just that little bit more to see how far we can push their hidden talents out in to the open. That means are program of study are flexible and help encourage them to carry on improving and learning from our tutors.

When we interview for a new tutor we make a point of hiring friendly tutors who we think will form good bonds with our students as we have seen and experienced with our own children what can happen when your child has a personality clash with a teacher at school and that’s a situation we won’t accept at any of our centres.
Each student gets the same tutor each lesson who is a specialist in not only their subject of learning but also the level of learning that they need help on.
Our tutors are always up to date on any changes to teaching methods or the school curriculum. We all work in a very happy and relaxed learning environment without losing any focus or drive with the task at hand when it comes to your child’s learning experience with us.

11 Plus and School Entrance Exams
At JJs Tuition Leigh on Sea we have made unique to us a specialised 11+ and school entrance exam program which was created to help your child get into local schools in your area.
We feel that every single child should have the chance and the opportunity to reach their potential and you should feel rest assured that your child’s ongoing development with us will help give them a good strong base for tacking those big exams.
In addition to our unique tuition programs that are personalised to your child we back that up with intensive revision course just to make sure we have covered every topic thoroughly. We then take that an extra step by offering mock exams after the revision sessions to see if there is any particular area, they still need to revise more on. This all helps us to reinforce from they have previously learnt and improve on it a bit further by getting them mentally prepared for the big day when they take their exams.
We cover exam techniques to help them answer questions better under pressure so they are not spending too much or not enough time on certain questions. We also help them get used to the way exam questions laid out. We hope by covering every angle that they go into the exams feeling more confident and relaxed in their own abilities. Keeping students calm and relaxed helps them to focus more and not lose marks because of their unfamiliarity with exam papers and the nerves they get from the unknown so to speak.
By the time the exams come around for real we believe we will have given your child the best possible chance of getting into a school that they want to go to no matter how selective or tough getting into that school of choice may have seemed at the start of their learning journey with us.
I booked my daughter in for tuition approx 9 months ago. She has come on leaps and bounds since! Small groups (2 or 3 others) so plenty of one-to-one attention which simply isn't possible in school.
Julie's approach has been excellent as she focuses on areas of weakness - we started to see small improvements straight away. During lockdown, Julie has been giving the lessons over Zoom. This has worked better than I expected.

After The Exams
When everything is done and dusted, we at JJs Tuition Leigh on Sea don’t think that should not be the end of the learning journey for your child once they have got into their choice of secondary school it can be a hard transition for them which is why we are here to support them.
The amount of work suddenly thrust upon some students can feel overwhelming or the speed the learning runs at in their new school. It can be especially hard for those students who only just passed their 11 Plus. It is lot easier to cope with these huge changes when you still have ongoing support from your tutor.
Too often I am afraid to say that some folks think that once we have done our job which was to get their child into a good school then there is no need for more tutoring and sometimes that is true but more often than not students still need that additional educational support to make sure they don’t fall behind again as too often we find some students fall behind again and then need to come back to us.
We work closely with several local schools in the Benfleet Area.
JJs Tuition Leigh on Sea are not here to replace what your child learns at school but we are here to support and supplement their learning. Which is why we love working closely with schools and teachers near to us.

Our Opening Hours
JJs Leigh on Sea tuition centre is open Monday to Friday (16.00 to 18.50) and Saturday (09:30 – 12:20).
Maths, English and Science lessons usually last about 60 minutes although in some special cases particularly for very young children we advise a much shorter session for them. After each lesson there is an opportunity for parents to get feedback from their child’s tutor and maybe discuss any concerns or questions, they have about their child.

So, what is 5-star service when it comes to tuition? Well we like to think it involves our high-quality educational services that have brought our students in well over 90% of cases improved test scores, greater confidence levels and big jumps in the improvements we seen from our students.

We also do it all with a smile. It might just seem like we are just getting results for your child but we like to do it with a smile in a friendly and conducive manner to them.

£30 or £50 to sign your child up to say they are now a student at JJ’s Leigh on Sea?
We can’t see why this fee needs to be charged, maybe it is to claw back the money they lost from giving you a free trial lesson? So maybe that first lesson wasn’t free then? Well it is free with us and always will remain that way and rest assured the trial lesson isn’t any normal lesson like other tutoring centres where they just through you in. You get a proper assessment with us along with a personalised learning plan for your child.
Our fees are just £110 a month which is great value for Leigh on Sea as we offer lots of one-to-one tuition in small groups with a personalised specialist tutor who gives you the parent feedback after each lesson which lasts for 60 minutes.
Our business has been running for over 20 years now and we are very family orientated and all about helping your child succeed more than anything else. It is that dedication and enthusiasm of all our tutors which has helped students, pleased parents and helped our business run so well without doing a lot of marketing – as they say the results speak for themselves and all those referrals from happy parents is what has kept us all in a job so to speak and for that we are very grateful.
